How video views are counted on Youtube
One of my client wanted to run YouTube Ads, and wanted to know what is considered as a view on YouTube!
I guess this is the most common question that many people have!
YouTube video views reflect how many times a video has been watched.
Views are important measure of a video’s overall popularity.
Firstly YouTube is smart!
It hasn’t revealed the exact time to be watched to be counted as a view! (And it is not as simple as we think )
What we can understand from Google’s blog is:
A user must intentionally initiates the watching of a video.
The user watches it on the platform for at least 30 seconds to count as view.
The second point is for YouTube Ads, typically it may remain the same for normal videos.
Now, what doesn’t count
Using the same IP across multiple devices at the same time
Open a lot of different windows and watch your video at the same time
Refresh the page after watching 30 seconds or less
Using bots to gain views
Buying views!
At the end of the day, YouTube is an excellent way to grow the reputation of your company and expand your presence.
